Former President Donald Trump is launching a social media network “to give a voice to all.”
According to a press release issued by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the network, named “TRUTH Social,” will “begin its Beta Launch for invited guests in November 2021.”
The nationwide rollout for the network is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2022. Trump, the chairman of the group, issued a statement on Wednesday explaining his reasoning behind the network.
“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,” Trump said.
He added, “This is unacceptable. I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”
The group’s mission is “to create a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the ‘Big Tech’ companies of Silicon Valley, which have used their unilateral power to silence opposing voices in America.”
Facebook and Twitter banned the former president following the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
In July, Trump filed class-action lawsuits against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
After months of being banned from Facebook and Twitter, Trump launched the platform, “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump.”
Senior advisor Jason Miller told Fox News, “President Trump’s website is a great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office, but this is not a new social media platform.”
