President Donald Trump is coming to the defense of 2020 Democratic hopeful Tulsi Gabbard after his former 2016 opponent called the Democrat a “Russian asset.”

Speaking with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday, the president laid into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for making the suggestion about Gabbard — a representative for Hawaii.

“I don’t know Tulsi Gabbard, but I know one thing: She’s not an asset of Russia,” Trump said, adding, “These people are sick.”

He later added: “I said, wait a minute, it took me two-and-a-half years, I wish [Clinton] would have said that earlier because people would have realized she is crazy. She’s crazy.”

Trump also took note of Clinton’s comments, as he said during a cabinet meeting on Monday that she’s “accusing everybody of being a Russian agent, anybody that is opposed to her is a Russian agent.”

Additionally, he previously tweeted:

Clinton made the claim on Campaign HQ podcast, without specifically naming Gabbard, as IJR previously reported.

“I’m not making any predictions but I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.”

Clinton added, “That’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she is also a Russian asset.”

Gabbard didn’t stay quiet in response to Clinton, as she slammed the 2016 Democratic presidential contender. In her message, she told Clinton to “Shut up, toe the line, or be destroyed.”

Check out Gabbard’s reaction below:

Several 2020 Democratic presidential contenders have come to Gabbard’s defense as well, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

“Tulsi Gabbard has put her life on the line to defend this country,” Sanders tweeted on Monday. “People can disagree on issues, but it is outrageous for anyone to suggest that Tulsi is a foreign asset.”

Gabbard told reporters on Monday that she “would have been very happy to have that conversation directly face-to-face” with Clinton.

What? I am NOT confused here.

I just heard her recorded voice. She used the word “Russians” twice! She said what she meant.

Having the media change this story is truly Orwellian.

She may be crazy, but I’ll settle for bitter loser and irrelevant. Just like certain posters here. Yea, I’m looking at the Genital, Phil, and Michael.

TDS is insidious, but you had to be pre-disposed to hating America first.

If that B___H wants to see a Russian agent she only needs to look in a mirror

Can you say “deep state” calling Clinton family and all people’s, family and friends associated with them the same thing? This is ludicrous for Tulsi Gabbard to be called names. Clinton will stop at nothing until she destroys everything and everyone standing in her way of the presidency. She will destroy the United States of America if given half a chance!

Trump must have read some of the internet news sites. Some beat him to say Hillary “is crazy” – as in mentally disturbed or “always, generally confused”. No news in that; move on. [She still hasn’t blamed her mother or her kid for losing to Trump in 2016.]
