Speaking with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday, the president laid into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for making the suggestion about Gabbard — a representative for Hawaii.
“I don’t know Tulsi Gabbard, but I know one thing: She’s not an asset of Russia,” Trump said, adding, “These people are sick.”
He later added: “I said, wait a minute, it took me two-and-a-half years, I wish [Clinton] would have said that earlier because people would have realized she is crazy. She’s crazy.”

Trump also took note of Clinton’s comments, as he said during a cabinet meeting on Monday that she’s “accusing everybody of being a Russian agent, anybody that is opposed to her is a Russian agent.”
Additionally, he previously tweeted:
Clinton made the claim on Campaign HQ podcast, without specifically naming Gabbard, as IJR previously reported.
“I’m not making any predictions but I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.”
Clinton added, “That’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she is also a Russian asset.”
Gabbard didn’t stay quiet in response to Clinton, as she slammed the 2016 Democratic presidential contender. In her message, she told Clinton to “Shut up, toe the line, or be destroyed.”

Several 2020 Democratic presidential contenders have come to Gabbard’s defense as well, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
“Tulsi Gabbard has put her life on the line to defend this country,” Sanders tweeted on Monday. “People can disagree on issues, but it is outrageous for anyone to suggest that Tulsi is a foreign asset.”
Gabbard told reporters on Monday that she “would have been very happy to have that conversation directly face-to-face” with Clinton.Published in
