Trump: Maxine Waters Is the New ‘Face of the Democrats’

President Donald Trump continued to fire back at Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) on Tuesday, declaring the California representative “the face of the Democrats” as left-wing leadership continues to distance themselves from her controversial comments.

“The face of the Democrats is now Maxine Waters who, together with Nancy Pelosi, have established a fine leadership team,” the president tweeted, seemingly sarcastically.

On Monday, Trump responded to Waters calling on her supporters to confront administration officials in public by calling her “an extraordinarily low IQ person” and warning “be careful what you wish for Max!”

Waters sparked controversy over the weekend after she said the following at a rally: “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

While some Democrats have defended Waters’ comments, leadership, including both House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Charles Schumer, have condemned the California Democrat’s call-to-action.

“In the crucial months ahead, we must strive to make America beautiful again,” Pelosi said Monday. “Trump’s daily lack of civility has provoked responses that are predictable but unacceptable. As we go forward, we must conduct elections in a way that achieves unity from sea to shining sea.”
