President Donald Trump is putting his foot down, telling House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to “stop playing political games” when it comes to border security.

The partial government shutdown lingers as the debate over border wall funding extends. Top Democrats continue to refuse to fund the wall construction along the U.S.-Mexico border, one of the president’s top campaign promises for border security.

In one of his latest tweets, Trump labeled the Democratic Party as the “Party of Crime,” telling top Democrats to “stop playing political games.”

The president mentioned a “big new Caravan … heading up to our Southern Border from Honduras,” saying “a drone flying around them will not stop them” but that “only a wall will work.”

“Stop playing political games and end the Shutdown!” he wrote.

Fox News’ Griff Jenkins reported from Honduras on a new migrant caravan forming and getting set to travel to the U.S.-Mexico border.

This comes months after thousands of immigrants from Central America flocked to the U.S. southern border.

“Polls are now showing that people are beginning to understand the Humanitarian Crisis and Crime at the Border. Numbers are going up fast, over 50%,” Trump wrote in another tweet. He added that the Democratic Party “will soon be known as the Party of Crime.”

“Ridiculous that they don’t want Border Security!” he wrote.

While it’s unclear the statistic the president is referencing, a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll showed people’s support for the border wall has hit a record high of 42 percent.

According to the poll, among those who support the wall, 46 percent see the immigration situation at the U.S.-Mexico border as a “crisis.”

The partial government shutdown is now in its 25th day. The president rejected a call from members of the GOP on Monday to temporarily reopen the government in his continued push for $5.7 billion for border wall funding. Trump is set to meet with lawmakers on Tuesday.
