President Donald Trump moved his ranting from Twitter to the Oval Office on Wednesday during an appearance in which he declared that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) should be investigated for treason and that Democrats have wanted to impeach him since he was elected.
Sitting in the Oval Trump steamed Trump said, “They’ve been trying to impeach me from the day I got elected. I’ve been going through this for three years. They’ve been trying to impeach me from the day I got elected and you know what? They failed.”
He continued, “This is the easiest one of all because this one is based on one conversation. What about Obama’s conversation with the President of Russia where he says ‘Hey, hey, tell Vlad I’ll talk to him after the election’s over.’ Nobody reports that, right? That’s stuff you should report.”

Trump’s stab at Obama was a nod to a 2012 incident in which Obama was caught on a hot mic telling Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he would have “more flexibility” after the election.
Of course, if Trump had bothered to even Google that incident, he would have seen that every single paper reported on it and the Obama White House was forced to issue a statement on the former president’s conversation with Medvedev. Obama was answering questions about it for about a week.
Trump’s assertion that “this one is based on one conversation” is a also bit far-flung, as reporting of more of his conversations with foreign leaders, including the Australian prime minister, have come under scrutiny and could be named in articles of impeachment.
President Trump’s remarks in person and online have grown more incendiary as he’s come under a cloud of impeachment. Over the past few days, he’s suggested that impeaching him would lead to a “civil war” and has ranted against Rep. Schiff.
