Trump Takes Rare Swipes at Fox News for Hosting Bernie Sanders Town Hall and Hiring Donna Brazile

Usually siding with the commentary at Fox News, President Donald Trump is offering a rare rebuke of the network after they hosted 2020 Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) for a town hall and hired controversial former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairwoman Donna Brazile.

Tweeting on Tuesday, the president claimed it was “so weird to watch Crazy Bernie on @FoxNews” on Monday night and noted that it’s “very strange” the network picked up Brazile as a commentator.

While the town hall audience cheered for the self-described Democratic socialist’s Medicare for All proposal, the moderators confronted him on several topics. As IJR Red reported, Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier pressed Sanders about revealing ten years of his tax returns that show his millionaire status.

“When you wrote the book and you made the money, isn’t that the definition of capitalism and the American dream?” Baier asked of Sanders’ best-selling book that helped boost his income.

The town hall moderators also called out Sanders on wanting to tax the wealthy more while also accepting tax breaks himself:

MacCallum: “So would you be willing to pay 52% on the money that you made? You can volunteer, you can send it back.”

Sanders: “You can volunteer too … why don’t you give? You make more money than I do.”

MacCallum: “I didn’t suggest a wealth tax.”

Baier: “And she’s not running for president.”

Brazile, the woman who had leaked CNN debate questions to former Democratic 2016 nominee Hillary Clinton, announced on March 18 she’d be joining Fox as a commentator, as IJR Red previously reported.

“You can be darn sure that I’m still going to be me on FOX News,” Brazile said at the time of her announcement. “I’m going to do what I always do: and dish it out straight, exactly as I see it, with just as much New Orleans hot sauce as folks expect.”

Minutes after Trump’s critical tweet, Baier issued a response thanking the president for “watching” and explaining that the network aims to “cover all sides.”

While unusual, this isn’t the president’s first swipe at the network. As IJR Red previously reported, he blasted a few of their correspondents earlier this year for allegedly having “even less understanding of the Wall negotiations than the folks at FAKE NEWS CNN & NBC!”

I disagree having Bernie on was a bad thing. He was exposed and McCallum and Baier asked him some serious questions. How he failed to answer, deflected. and postured said as much as his actual answers.

As far as Brazile….the Leftist media outlets have Navarro, etc. as token and pet representatives of the “opposition”. That’s us.
