President-elect Donald Trump has received an āunconditional dischargeā for his New York Hush-money case, making him the first president to be sentenced for a criminal conviction once he assumes office on January 20, according to NBC News.
Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over the case, handed down the sentence that will allow the 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to have no further penalties, including jail time. Trump was convicted in May over alleged Hush-money paid through his now ex-attorney Michael Cohen, to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
The decision came after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Trumpās request to have the case dropped all together, with the Justices voting 5-4 on Thursday. According to NBC News, Trump thought the ruling by the Supreme Court was a āfair decision.ā
