President Donald Trump said Friday that he did not like seeing former President Bill Clinton be forced to testify before the House Oversight Committee.

Clinton testified before the committee about his past relationship with deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein following the Department of Justice (DOJ)  releasing files in connection to Epstein. Before he boarded Marine One, Trump told reporters that he did not like seeing Clinton deposed by Congress.

“I don’t like seeing him deposed,” Trump said. “But, you know, they certainly went after me a lot more than that. But I don’t like seeing him deposed. I like him and I don’t like seeing him deposed.”

Clinton said in a Friday statement that he never witnessed any wrongdoing from Epstein and had no knowledge of any wrongdoing. He also criticized the Oversight Committee for deposing former first lady Hillary Clinton, who he assured had never met Epstein, traveled with him or visited any of his properties.

“But even with 20/20 hindsight, I saw nothing that ever gave me pause,” Clinton said. “We are only here because [Epstein] hid it from everyone so well for so long. And by the time it came to light with his 2008 plea deal, I had long stopped associating with him.”

Should Congress have deposed Bill Clinton regarding his connections to Epstein?

A photograph released by the DOJ in December 2025 showed Clinton in a hot tub next to Epstein and several girls. More photos showed Clinton socializing with Epstein’s former business partners, Ghislaine Maxwell, and smiling with Epstein at what appeared to be a dinner party.

Documents released on Feb. 1 also found that Maxwell played a major role in financially supporting the Clinton Global Initiative, Clinton’s major project after leaving the White House, according to The New York Times.

Clinton reportedly sent Epstein a birthday letter in 2003 that was later put into an album by Epstein’s former partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) first reported. Trump was also accused of sending a card to Epstein which included a drawing of a naked woman, though he denied this allegation and sued The WSJ in July 2025 over the allegation.

Angel Ureña, a spokesperson for Clinton, told the Times Clinton called for the full release of the files and had “nothing to hide.”

“He knew nothing about Epstein’s crimes,” Ureña told the Times. “When it became clear Epstein had no genuine interest in lifesaving philanthropic work, there was no reason for further contact. The facts are the facts and the truth is the truth, and they’re both on our side.”

Hillary told the committee on Thursday that she had never met Epstein or had any knowledge of his crimes. The hearing was abruptly halted when Republican Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert leaked a photograph of Hillary to conservative podcaster Benny Johnson, though it soon proceeded.

Trump was one of the first associates to call the police on Epstein while the Palm Beach Police Department investigated Epstein for sexual misconduct. He also stated in July that he banished Epstein from Mar-a-Lago in the early 2000s because he “stole” spa staffers, and other reports suggested that Epstein was removed for making advances toward another member’s teenage daughter.

Epstein victims and Maxwell both denied that they witnessed Trump commit any wrongdoing.
