Trump Slams McCabe, DOJ for ‘Illegal and Treasonous’ 25th Amendment Talk: ‘There Is a Lot of Explaining to Do’

President Donald Trump took to Twitter to reiterate his frustration with former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe and other members of the Department of Justice (DOJ) after McCabe admitted to “60 Minutes” that they had considered invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office.

While McCabe stands firmly on his claim, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein denies that the talks ever occurred in a serious fashion, only admitting to joking about the issue. His denial didn’t clear him from the president’s wrath on Twitter.

Trump slammed McCabe and Rosenstein for “lying” about the situation. He also cast some blame on former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who hired Rosenstein and found himself on the wrong side of Trump after recusing himself from the Russia investigation.

The president tied the recent revelations from McCabe to the text messages sent by former FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. While the two were having an affair, they corresponded on their work phones about having an “insurance policy” in case Trump won the 2016 election.

Trump claimed the DOJ has “a lot of explaining to do” to the people who elected him in 2016 if people like McCabe actually tried to remove the president.

The president’s comments on Twitter about McCabe and the DOJ were likely prompted by a segment on “Fox & Friends” in which contributor Dan Bongino referred to McCabe’s claims as an “illegal coup attempt.”

This is not the first time Trump has taken to Twitter since McCabe’s story came out. As IJR previously reported, Trump called McCabe a “disgrace” when the news first broke.

While it isn’t yet clear who is telling the truth between McCabe and Rosenstein, the situation has caught the attention of many Republicans, including Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). As IJR reported earlier, Graham vowed to “get to the bottom” of the situation.

One can always tell a FOX viewer. They believe that if they repeat a lie 10 times it becomes a George Costanza classic, “it’s not a lie if you believe it.” Trump watches a lot of FOX.
