Shocking footage from President Donald Trump‘s first 2020 campaign rally in El Paso, Texas on Monday night shows one of his supporters shoving a BBC cameraman in, what a reporter at the outlet called, a “shameful moment.”
In the video, a man sporting a “Make America Great Again” hat appears to shove and swear at cameraman Ron Skeans before onlookers pull him away. Following the incident, Skeans claimed it was a “very hard shove.”
BBC Washington correspondent Gary O’Donoghue, who was present, shared footage of the encounter on social media, writing, “This is the shameful moment when my cameraman Ron Skeans was attacked at an @realDonaldTrump rally in El Paso last night.”

He later called the moment an “incredibly violent attack,” but added that Skeans is “fine.”
“Fortunately, our cameraman is fine. He is made of stern stuff,” he said.
According to another BBC reporter, the Trump supporter shoved Skeans after the “crowd had been whipped up into a frenzy against the media by Trump and other speakers all night.” The president repeatedly prompted boos and chants of “CNN sucks” from the audience towards the press.
The outlet responded to the incident in a statement from a representative:
“The man was removed by security and Ron is fine. The president could see the incident and checked with us that all was OK. It is clearly unacceptable for any of our staff to be attacked for doing their job.”
While the president reportedly checked on Skeans by giving him the thumbs up before continuing on with his speech, BCC reiterated that it happened after Trump “heavily criticized the media at the rally.”
As IJR Blue previously pointed out, President Trump has a history of encouraging violence from his supporters at his rallies — something one of his supporters recently took to heart at an event for Senator and 2020 Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).
