Former President Donald Trump won the Republican presidential primary in Florida Tuesday as the state’s governor came in third place.

Trump took all 125 delegates from Florida, but as Politico reported, things weren’t all that bad for the two who trailed him.

Gov. Ron DeSantis and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley picked up around a fifth of the vote, the outlet reported.

Haley has garnered 14% of the vote, while DeSantis lagged behind, receiving just 4% of the vote in his home state.

“This was a primary that only a few weeks ago had well-funded candidates and the sitting governor of our state sharing the ballot,” said Trump senior adviser Brian Hughes. “Nevertheless, President Trump demonstrated absolute dominance in the result. Polling for the general election shows that his dominance in Florida will continue to November. Florida is Trump Country.”

Florida has backed Trump in the past two presidential elections. Unless things go south for Trump in Florida, he will probably win this election and get 30 electoral college votes.

Trump beat Biden by 3.3 percentage points in 2020, Politico reported.

The stronghold Trump has in Florida was strengthened with Tuesday’s win even though DeSantis rose through the ranks by being an ally of Trump.

“DeSantis rose to the national spotlight and earned backing from conservatives due to his response to the COVID-19 pandemic and controversial legislation he pushed on education, race and gender issues,” Politico reported.

However, DeSantis was never able to snag votes from Trump even through Trump’s legal woes.

DeSantis left the presidential race in January after the Iowa caucuses. Haley left after she won one state on Super Tuesday.

Trump went after DeSantis during the campaign season.

“During a rally in Ohio over the weekend, Trump called DeSantis a ‘shell of a man’ and said, ‘I hit him hard, I hit him low,’ comparing his fight with DeSantis to fighting the terrorist group ISIS,” Politico reported.
