Trump Threatens to Make DNC Lawsuit Backfire — He Wants to Countersue for Servers, Emails

While President Donald Trump thought it was funny Democrats decided to sue him after his 2016 win, he said he would retaliate by suing for more of the Democratic Party’s information:

“This can be good news,” Trump said before suggesting that Republicans could use the lawsuit to obtain more information about leading Democrats.

As Independent Journal Review previously noted, the Democratic Party filed a lawsuit alleging that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to hurt former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s electoral chances.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez said Russia “found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign” when the nation engaged in an “all-out assault on our democracy.”

It might be difficult for the lawsuit to proceed, as Russia, one of the sued entities, and other foreign nations are immune from most U.S. lawsuits. But Democrats argued that the country shouldn’t get sovereign immunity because Russia trespassed “on to the DNC’s private servers…in order to steal trade secrets and commit economic espionage.”
