Trump Warns He Will Permanently Close Down Border If Mexico Doesn’t Do More on Migrant Crisis

President Donald Trump called on the Mexican government to do more to stop migrants approaching the U.S. border, warning on Monday that he might permanently shut down entry if necessary.

“Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries,” he said. “Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A.”

“We will close the Border permanently if need be,” he added before calling on Congress to fund the controversial border wall. His tweet came as the Mexican government reportedly said it would deport migrants who tried storming the U.S. border on Sunday.

Trump has long pushed for a southern border wall and likely feels justified amid the current migrant crisis in shutting down the government over the issue.

Over the weekend, Trump seemed to take a swipe at Mexico for inaction, claiming that the United States endured “decades of abuse”:

“Migrants at the Southern Border will not be allowed into the United States until their claims are individually approved in court,” Trump also said in his Saturday tweet.

While Trump may have the executive authority to shut down border entry, he sought Congress’ approval on additional funding for a southern border wall. He only had a short time frame to leverage his Republican majorities as Democrats won the House during the midterms and would take leadership positions in the new year.

Permanently close the US Mexican border—-That claim is destined to be placed in the circular file with Not golfing, Not vacationing, Not leaving the WH, Being presidential, Replacing Obamacare with a plan that covers everyone & costs less, Paying off the national debt, Balancing the budget, and Draining the Swamp. Trump is nothing, if not entertaining.
