Every holiday season, many Americans make their way to their local cemeteries to honor veterans by placing wreaths on the headstones of military members across the country. This year, President Donald Trump even made a visit.
Wreaths Across America organizes 1,400 wreath-laying events with one of their largest locations being Arlington National Cemetery.
“Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.”
On Saturday morning, thousands of patriotic Americans made their way to their local cemetery to place the holiday wreaths.
Thousands turned out for the wreath-laying ceremony at the Arlington Cemetery. It was an emotional tribute and unforgettable day to see so many people come together to honor those who sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms. #WreathsAcrossAmerica @DailyCaller #America ❤️?? pic.twitter.com/o4AAbwk9fO

Although it was a rainy day in Arlington, Virginia, it didn’t keep the volunteers away. Thousands tended to each headstone to honor those whose sacrifice made it possible for Americans to celebrate the holiday season as they choose.
This year, President Trump even made an unannounced visit to see the wreaths and pay his respects to those who gave their lives.

In the past week, First Lady Melania has honored those who serve and have served in the armed forces. As IJR previously reported, the first lady stopped at several military bases to meet with soldiers and their families before the holidays.
The first lady told reporters that she loves visiting the children of those serving in the military, saying, “As a mother, I feel children are the most precious gift of all. They provide so much joy in life.”
Clearly, the first family keeps the sacrifice of the Americans who serve in the armed services in the front of their minds during the holiday season.
