The public is divided on whether former President Donald Trump made a crass joke or was merely telling the truth.
Trumpās comment involves the widow of Corey Comperatore, the man who was killed during the attempt on Trumpās life in Butler, Pennsylvania, July 13.
While at a rally in Harrisburg, Trump said a friend of his gave Helen Comperatore a check for $1 million raised by crowd fundraising effort,Ā HuffPostĀ reported.
āBut you know what?ā Trump said. āCoreyās wife said, āIād rather have my husband.āā
āIsnāt that good?ā he asked. āI know a lot of wives that would not say that, Iām sorry. They would not say that.ā
The audience laughed in response to Trumpās statement.
āBut no, itās a great family, he was a great man, he was a brave man,ā said Trump.
Posters on X, formerly Twitter, were divided by Trumpās comments ā some saying he made light of Comperatoreās death.
