Jesse Ventura told TMZ that he not only thinks he would beat President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, but he also thinks the president knows he would lose.
Ventura became famous as a professional wrestler, Jesse “The Body” Ventura. After his wrestling career, Ventura joined the Reform Party of Minnesota where he ran for governor as a third party candidate. The former Wrestlemania star was elected by the people of Minnesota to serve as governor from 1999 to 2003.
The former wrestler also made headlines when he sued the family of “American Sniper” Chris Kyle for defamation after Kyle claimed he knocked Ventura out in a bar in his book. Ventura ended up settling with Kyle’s family and Harper Publishing.
Ventura has been connected to the Green Party, but he hasn’t been served politically since his stint as governor. But that could all change.
In a brief interview with TMZ, Ventura said he’s been pressured by the Green Party to run for president with an emphasis on alternative energy and marijuana legalization.
“I’m being pressured right now [to run for president] from the Green Party,” said Ventura. “I’m big into cannabis legalization and I’m also into alternative energy big. We need to get away from fossil fuels. We’ve got to go to the sun. It’s time.”
Ventura isn’t even worried about defeating President Trump.
“I haven’t made a decision yet because it’s a long time off, but if I do do it, rest assured — you got that [camera] running? If I do do it, Trump will not have a chance. Because for one, Trump knows wrestling. He participated in two wrestling manias. He knows he could never out talk a wrestler and he knows I am the greatest talker wrestlings ever had. So, if I go for it, he’s history and he knows it.”
If the presidential bid doesn’t pan out, Ventura can always fall back to wrestling. In fact, he hinted at his participation in the Wrestlemania competition in his hometown of Minneapolis in 2019.
