After nearly 60 Tomahawk missiles were launched by the United States into Syria in retaliation for the chemical attack on Syrian citizens attributed to the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, President Donald Trump delivered a statement to the American public.
Prior to the statement being delivered on television, pool reporters at Mar-a-Lago provided short excerpts.

In the statement, Trump noted that Assad used a “deadly nerve agent” in the attack and that it “choked out the lives” of women, men, and children. “Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this very barbaric attack,” he added.
“It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons,” Trump explained.
“Tonight I call on all civilized nations to join us in seeking to end this slaughter and blood shed in Syria and also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types,” the president said. “We ask for God’s wisdom as we face the challenge of our very troubled world.”
