A Rational Solution: WH Official Calls on Dems to ‘Come to the Table’ With POTUS on Immigration

White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley is calling on congressional Democrats to work with the president following the announcement of his massive overhaul immigration plan.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump made it clear he wants to move from a family-based system to a merit-based system to combat the surge of immigrants trying to cross at the U.S.-Mexico, as IJR Red reported.

The president has continuously pushed for Democrats’ support to fix the crisis at the southern border, but now, he’s given them a choice to work on fixing immigration laws or face the chances of losing the upcoming 2020 presidential election.

“If for some reason — possibly political — we can’t get the Democrats to approve this merit-based, high-security plan, then we will get it approved immediately after the election when we take back the House, keep the Senate, and, of course, hold the presidency.”

The deputy press secretary mirrored Trump’s call for Democrats to “come to the table” on immigration, as he discussed the president’s “rational solution” on the topic during Friday’s interview with “Fox & Friends.”

“We’re looking at fixing this long-term because so many of the problems we face are because of an immigration system that hasn’t been touched for almost 60 years now,” Hogan said.

“It’s time to fix it. The president wants to do it,” he added. “It’s up to Democrats to come to the table.”

During Thursday’s White House speech, the president noted:

“Our proposal fulfills our sacred duty to those living here today while ensuring America remains a welcoming country to immigrants joining us tomorrow. And we want immigrants coming in. We cherish the open door that we want to create for our country. But a big proportion of those immigrants must come in through merit and skill.”

The president took to an early morning Twitter session on immigration.

“The Democrats now realize that there is a National Emergency at the Border and that, if we work together, it can be immediately fixed,” he tweeted. “We need Democrat votes and all will be well!”

As IJR Red reported, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) laid out a proposal to fix the situation at the southern border, which would include adding more judges, extending the detention period, closing loopholes of family units, and changing asylum laws.

“They’re going to keep coming to the United States because life is better here than it is there,” Graham declared. He added that no matter how much funding is sent to the countries or how high the border wall is, “they’ll keep coming because they want to get caught.”

I am certainly tired of all the illegal aliens attacking our southern border. My grandparents immigrated to this country LEGALLY. They worked their entire lives, supported their families and never took any handouts.

It seems the Dumbos want illegals to pour into the country unabated in some daft attempt to garner votes.
They don’t seem to care that most people are sick of the expenditures and harm caused to those people who follow the rules.
