Hillary Clinton was confronted about her leaked remarks about her “dream” of “open trade and open borders” during Wednesday night’s debate, a revelation brought to light by documents released by WikiLeaks.
Clinton claimed she was only talking about “energy” when she referenced “open borders.” She quickly changed the subject to Russia and WikiLeaks, criticizing both entities for trying to influence the U.S. election.

But Trump didn’t let his Democratic opponent off the hook that easy.
“That is a great pivot off the fact that she wants open borders,” Trump remarked, sparking a big reaction from the crowd.
Debate moderator Chris Wallace actually had to settle down the laughing and murmuring crowd after Trump’s line.

Trump then continued to go after Clinton:
“She wants open borders, people are going to pour in from our country,” Trump said. “People are going to come in from Syria. She wants 550 percent more people than Barack Obama. … We are going to stop radical Islamic terrorism in this country. She won’t even mention the words and neither will President Obama.”
Clinton made the open border comments in a past speech to a Brazilian bank, for which she was paid $225,000.
The Washington Post’s Dave Weigel tweeted Clinton’s remarks in full and determined she was talking about energy.
