Well, it finally happened — Barack Obama looked America dead in the eye, straight-faced, and warned us about political meddling in the Justice Department.
Yes, that Obama.
The same guy whose administration turned the IRS into a blunt-force weapon against conservatives. The same guy whose DOJ went after reporters. The same guy who sat back while his FBI wiretapped the Trump campaign and laid the groundwork for the Russiagate hoax. That Obama. And now he wants to lecture the country about staying above the political fray? You honestly couldn’t write a better sketch for Saturday Night Live — if that show were still funny.
But let’s rewind and breathe in the irony for a moment. Obama shows up on Marc Maron’s podcast and waxes poetic about how “we don’t want kangaroo courts” and that the FBI should just “play things straight.”

Oh, now we want straight shooters?
Because if memory serves, this is the administration that launched the era of the politicized probe. This is the guy who had his DOJ sue the Little Sisters of the Poor — nuns — over contraceptives. Yeah, because nothing says “justice” like dragging a group of celibate women into court to force them to pay for birth control.
And yet here he is, years later, musing about how we need a Justice Department that’s immune to political pressure.
File this one under: Things That Did Not Age Well.
Here’s what really happened: Obama was trying to take a jab at Trump — again — over ICE operations and crime crackdowns, talking about how America doesn’t want “masked folks with rifles” on the streets. Interesting, considering it was his administration that loved using federal muscle when it suited them — just not when it made the evening news in a red state.
But the real kicker came when he pivoted to the courts and said with a totally straight face that we’ve seen “meddling in politics lately.”
Lately?
Buddy, your FBI used a discredited dossier to open an investigation into your political rival. That’s not “lately.” That’s the very reason the American public doesn’t trust the institutions you keep defending on your podcast circuit reunion tour.
And no, this wasn’t just some off-the-cuff gaffe. Obama doubled down, practically begging people to “stand up” and “call it like we see it.”
Well, okay. Let’s call it like we see it: The king of weaponized bureaucracy now wants to be the patron saint of nonpartisan justice. That’s like Hillary Clinton starting a foundation to secure email transparency.
The response? Predictably, conservatives didn’t let it slide.
Senator Ted Cruz came out swinging with a quick “Irony alert.” Governor Ron DeSantis — never one to miss a well-placed jab — reminded folks that this is the same guy who helped manufacture the Russian collusion narrative. Senator Mike Lee asked if this was “parody.” At this point, it may as well be.
Says the guy who presided over the fabrication of the Russian collusion narrative and the IRS targeting of conservatives… https://t.co/7DNVilkfOR

Representative Greg Steube laid it out bluntly: Obama’s DOJ spied on reporters, his IRS targeted conservatives, and his administration pushed the Russia hoax. And now he wants to play grandpa-in-the-rocking-chair and scold everyone for losing trust in our institutions?
You want to know why Americans are cynical? Why the Justice Department gets side-eye from half the country? It’s because people remember. They remember Lois Lerner. They remember spying on journalists. They remember how the FBI treated Trump like a criminal based on third-hand gossip and political theater.
So when Obama tells us to “just look at the facts,” Americans are doing exactly that — and those facts don’t flatter him.
But here’s the move: Obama’s trying to rewrite the narrative before 2024. He knows his fingerprints are all over the mess Biden’s made, and he’s desperate to clean up the legacy — even if it means pretending the last 15 years didn’t happen.
And if he gets called out? Well, he’s got a loyal media corps and late-night hosts ready to polish the talking points.
But Americans aren’t buying it anymore.
They’ve seen this movie. They know the ending. And this time, they’re not clapping.
