Former Vice President Joe Biden wishes President Donald Trump would say nothing when it comes to the stock market declines and coronavirus.

On Monday, a clip of Biden’s MSNBC’s “Last Word” interview was released. During the clip, Lawrence O’Donnell touched on the market reaction.

O’Donnell asked Biden if he believes the markets have realized Trump hasn’t been completely forthcoming about the severity of the coronavirus outbreak.

To which, Biden responded by saying he just wishes Trump would “just be quiet.”

“I wish he would just be quiet, I really mean it. That’s an awful thing to say about a president, but be quiet, just let the experts speak and acknowledge whatever they suggest to him is what we should be doing,” Biden said.

Biden also said that he believes Trump’s response efforts may be impacting the market reaction.

“But it wouldn’t collapse, I don’t think. Now, who can say? But I think there’s no confidence in the president in anything he says or does. He turns everything into what he thinks is a political benefit for himself, and he’s actually imploding in the process. But here’s a lot of innocent bystanders being badly hurt.”

In the wake of the coronavirus, the stock market has taken a notable hit with record-breaking low numbers. However, Trump has repeatedly insisted that everything is fine. He has also refuted the claims about the coronavirus fatality rate calling it a “false number” and accusing the media of using the virus for the sole purpose of invoking fear.

Biden’s full interview is scheduled to air on Monday night at 10:00 PM on MSNBC.
