Democrats’ opposition research Twitter account seemed to accuse First Lady Melania Trump of peddling hypocrisy in a tweet on Monday after the First Lady posted an video message urging “kindness.”

In the clip, Melania said, “Together with kindness and care, we will get through this temporary but tough time … we are thinking of you and we are all in this together.”

She captioned the video “To the children of America, in these difficult times, I encourage you to try and make the best of your day. Together with kindness and care, we will get through this temporary but tough time.”

But the Democrats re-tweeted it with quotes from President Donald Trump attacking reporters and the female governor of Michigan.

MELANIA: “Together, with kindness and care, we will get through this temporary but tough time.”

DONALD: “Your Governor, Gretchen ‘Half’ Whitmer is way in over her head.”

“I say that you’re a terrible reporter.”

The Democrats noted Trump’s attack on NBC reporter Peter Alexander — during a press briefing, Alexander asked Trump what he says to Americans who are frightened and Trump responded “I say that you’re a terrible reporter, that’s what I say.”

They also noted an apparent jab that Trump took on Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah). After learning that the Republican lawmaker was in isolation after encountering the coronavirus, Trump quipped, “Romney’s in isolation? Gee. That’s too bad.”

Melania Trump’s main issue in the White House has been cyber bullying — a mission that has caused plenty of criticism since her husband spends many of his mornings throwing insults at his political foes.

Among those critics was former First Lady Hillary Clinton, who when asked about Melania’s cyberbullying initiative, joked “I think she should look a little closer to home.”

While she rarely appears in the political conversation, Melania has been been more visible during the coronavirus pandemic and has appeared in other public service announcements, encouraging the nation to keep up hope and reminding us that there is an end in sight.
