Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) is issuing a warning to older people ahead of President Donald Trump’s upcoming rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Wednesday, Lankford welcomed the president but also noted the risks associated with his campaign rally.

“We’re advising people if they’re coming to the rally, if you have co-morbidities, if you are older, or you have other health issues, don’t come,” Lankford said. “Watch it on TV.”

While Lankford is admitting that masks are “going to be an individual decision,” he is urging rallygoers to wear them.

The Republican senator also highlighted the hardest part of stressing the major concerns surrounding large gatherings.

“The hard part about it, and I’ve tried to explain this to other folks, when you’re at a large gathering like that, as you know, it’s hard to be able to hear sometimes,” Lankford said.

See Lankford’s remarks below:

He continued, “So there’s going to be times [people will] pull masks on and off. That’s why I really encourage people, if you have other health issues, I discourage you from coming to the event.”

Lankford’s remarks follow the release of a COVID-19 disclaimer from Trump’s re-election campaign. All potential rallygoers are required to register online to attend the rally in Tulsa because a disclaimer must be signed to obtain free tickets, as previously reported on IJR.

By signing the disclaimer, attendees are acknowledging that they could be exposed to the coronavirus at the rally. Their signatures also serve as an agreement not to sue in the event they become sick after attending.

The disclaimer reads, “By attending the Rally, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; BOK Center; ASM Global; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury.”

Trump’s rally in Tulsa is scheduled for Saturday, June 20.
