A group of celebrities is penning a letter to express to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that they support the House of Representative’s police reform bill.

The letter, obtained by ABC News, is signed by hundreds of musicians, actors, organizations, and artists, including Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, and Lizzo. The joint letter is written to Pelosi and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

In the letter, the celebrities tossed their support behind The George Floyd Justice In Policing Act, which “establishes a framework to prohibit racial profiling at the federal, state, and local levels.”

“We in the music and entertainment communities believe that Black lives matter and have long decried the injustices endured by generations of Black citizens,” they wrote. “We are more determined than ever to push for federal, state, and local law enforcement programs that truly serve their communities. Accordingly, we are grateful for movement of the Justice in Policing Act.”

Others who signed the letter include artists Meek Mill, Alyssa Milano, and Billy Porter.

They also stated the House bill “will not only promote justice; it will establish a culture of responsibility, fairness, and respect deserving of the badge.”

The Senate is headed into a showdown on Wednesday as the Republican senators will likely not garner the needed 60 votes as Democratic lawmakers have expressed opposition to the Senate Republican legislation, as IJR reported.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on Tuesday, “It will never get 60 votes. We need a bipartisan bill and a process to get there. That’s when we will move a bill.”

While the Senate is voting on the Republican legislation on Wednesday, the House is expected to vote on the Democratic police reform legislation on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Pelosi told CBS Radio that the Republican bill is not salvageable and suggested that Republicans are “trying to get away with murder” of George Floyd, as IJR reported.
