Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden says he will announce his pick for his vice presidential nominee in the first week of August.

Throughout the vetting process, Biden has received feedback from several politicians on who he should pick.

As he left the White House on Wednesday, President Donald Trump was about rumors that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is under consideration to be Biden’s running mate.

“I think she’d be a fine choice, Kamala Harris,” Trump said, adding, “She’d be a fine choice.”

On July 28, Biden said he would soon announce his pick, as IJR reported. He told reporters, “I’m going to have a choice in the first week in August, and I promise I’ll let you know when I do.”

Biden has previously vowed to pick a woman running mate, and some of those reportedly under consideration for the post include Harris, Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), Rep. Val Demings (D-Fl.), former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms (D).

Biden has refused to commit to naming a Black woman, but he did not rule it out, as IJR reported.

“I am not committed to naming any but the people I’ve named, and among them, there are four Black women,” Biden said during an interview on MSNBC.

Trump’s comments come after Politico accidentally published a report that said Biden had chosen Harris to be his running mate.

In a statement to The Hill, Politico’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications Brad Dayspring said, “For a brief period yesterday afternoon, placeholder text was mistakenly published to the site.”

“Our standard practice is to use ‘lorem ipsum’ as placeholder text. In this instance, that did not happen. We regret the error and any confusion that it caused,” he added.

There is some speculation that Harris, a former primary opponent of Biden, is a front-runner for the post.

However, Politico reports that members of Biden’s vice presidential search committee were not satisfied that Harris reportedly showed “no remorse” for her broadsides against Biden during the primary debates last year.
