President Donald Trump quickly fired back at former President Barack Obama’s sharply critical speech during the Democratic National Convention.

On Wednesday night, Trump took to Twitter with an all-caps response to the former president as he attempted to diminish Obama’s support of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Trump questioned Obama’s endorsement of Biden as he alluded to the former president’s support being delayed. The president claimed Obama waited “until it was all over.”

“WHY DID HE REFUSE TO ENDORSE SLOW JOE UNTIL IT WAS ALL OVER, AND EVEN THEN WAS VERY LATE? WHY DID HE TRY TO GET HIM NOT TO RUN?” Trump tweeted Wednesday.

Trump repeated his unproven claim and accused Obama of spying on his 2016 presidential campaign.

The president’s remarks were made in real-time as the 2020 Democratic National Convention aired on Wednesday night. Obama depicted Trump as a divisive president with “no interest in using the awesome power of his office to help anyone but himself and his friends.”

The former president explained why he believes Biden is the best candidate for the job as he highlighted the characteristics and foundation America is built on.

“Joe knows the world, and the world knows him. He knows that our true strength comes from setting an example the world wants to follow. A nation that stands with democracy, not dictators,” Obama said. “A nation that can inspire and mobilize others to overcome threats like climate change, terrorism, poverty, and disease.”

Despite Trump’s claim about Obama announcing a late endorsement, the former president publicly endorsed Biden’s presidential campaign back in April, as previously reported on IJR.

At the time, Obama took to Twitter with a video message announcing his endorsement of Biden.

I’m proud to endorse my friend @JoeBiden for President of the United States. Let's go: https://t.co/maHVGRozkX

— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) April 14, 2020

The 2020 presidential election is set for November 3, 2020.
