Twitter is taking action again to address what it says is a misleading claim made by Trump on its platform.
On Sunday morning, Trump tweeted, “So now the Democrats are using Mail Drop Boxes, which are a voter security disaster. Among other things, they make it possible for a person to vote multiple times.”
“Also, who controls them, are they placed in Republican or Democrat areas? They are not Covid sanitized. A big fraud!” he added.

Twitter added an advisory and its Twitter Safety account shared an explanation of what guidelines Trump’s tweet violated, “We placed a public interest notice on this Tweet for violating our Civic Integrity Policy for making misleading health claims that could potentially dissuade people from participation in voting.”
“Per our policies, this Tweet will remain on the service, given its relevance to ongoing public conversation. Engagements with the Tweet will be limited. People will be able to Retweet with Comment, but not Like, Reply, or Retweet it,” it added.

Trump has regularly railed against mail-in voting, as IJR reported. During an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, he claimed, “This is going to be the greatest scam in history. This will be the most fraudulent election in history.”
Twitter has become more active in addressing what it says are false or misleading claims from the president in recent months.
