In recent months, President Donald Trump has struggled to explain what he hopes to accomplish in a second term.
During an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity in June, he was asked what his primary second-term goal is.
He responded, “One of the things that will be really great — the word experience is still good, I always say talent is more important than experience, I’ve always said that — but the word experience is a very important word, a very important meaning.”
Just a day before the Republican National Convention kicks off, the president’s re-election campaign is attempting to answer that question and has released a list of goals Trump wants to accomplish in a second term.
“President Trump’s boundless optimism and certainty in America’s greatness is reflected in his second-term goals and stands in stark contrast to the gloomy vision of America projected by Joe Biden and Democrats,” the campaign said on its website.
Check out some of what Trump hopes to accomplish in a second term:
“JOBS”
Trump is eyeing a robust economic recovery, aiming to “create” 10 million jobs in 10 months and 1 million new small businesses.
The president wants to “Cut taxes to boost take-home pay and keep jobs in America.”
The president also wants to implement “Made in America Tax Credits,” and continue to roll back regulations.
“ERADICATE COVID-19″
The campaign says Trump is hoping that a COVID-19 vaccine is developed by the end of 2020, followed by a “Return to normal in 2021.”
Additionally, Trump would work to “Refill stockpiles and prepare for future pandemics.”
“END OUR RELIANCE ON CHINA”
Trump wants to “Bring back 1 million manufacturing jobs from China,” and create a tax credit to incentivize companies to bring their operations back to the U.S.
Additionally, he wants to implement a ban on federal contracts for companies that outsource jobs to China.
And finally, “Hold China fully accountable for allowing the virus to spread around the world.”
“HEALTHCARE”
Trump aims to cut prescription drug prices, “Protect Social Security and Medicare,” and “End surprise billing.”
The campaign also says the president would make sure that insurance companies are required to cover Americans with pre-existing conditions — a policy already implemented under the Affordable Care Act.
“EDUCATION”
Trump would push to “Provide school choice to every child in America,” and ensure educators “Teach American exceptionalism.”
“DRAIN THE SWAMP”
The campaign says Trump would pass Congressional term limits, “End bureaucratic government bullying of U.S. citizens and small businesses,” “Expose Washington’s money trail,” and “Delegate powers back to people and states.”
Finally, Trump wants to “Drain the globalist swamp taking on international organizations that hurt American citizens.”
“DEFEND OUR POLICE”
Trump wants to “Fully fund and hire more police and law enforcement officers.” The agenda also calls for increasing the penalty for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
The campaign also says Trump would push to eliminate “cashless bail” and have drive-by shootings prosecuted as acts of domestic terrorism.
“END ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AND PROTECT AMERICAN WORKERS”
The first agenda item for immigration policy is preventing undocumented immigrants from becoming “eligible for taxpayer-funded welfare, healthcare, and free college tuition.”
His administration would continue its campaign against sanctuary cities and would push to require that “non-citizen gang members” face mandatory deportation.
Additionally, Trump would try to require “New immigrants to be able to support themselves financially.”
“INNOVATE FOR THE FUTURE”
Trump wants to “launch Space Force,” and “establish permanent manned presence on the Moon.”
Additionally, he wants to launch a manned mission to Mars and “Build the world’s greatest infrastructure system.”
“AMERICA FIRST FOREIGN POLICY”
Trump aims to “Stop endless wars and bring our troops home,” “Get allies to pay their fair share,” and “Wipe out global terrorists who threaten to harm Americans.”
The campaign said Trump would highlight more of his second-term agenda during his convention speech on Thursday night.
