Former Trump administration officials have joined forces to form the anti-Trump political group Republican Political Alliance for Integrity and Reform (REPAIR) in hopes of defeating President Donald Trump in November.

On Monday, the political initiative — led by former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official Miles Taylor — aims to not only fight for a change in leadership for the White House but also to “repair the Republican Party.”

“[REPAIR] is a group of former U.S. officials, advisors, and conservatives—organized by ex-Trump administration officials—calling for leadership change in the White House and seeking to repair the Republican Party. We believe America’s comeback starts this November—with a return to our founding principles,” according to the group’s website.

In a statement to Politico, Taylor, who distanced from the Trump administration when he resigned from DHS in 2019, criticized Trump as he recalled the “chaos of his administration” that he witnessed “firsthand.”

“The President has demonstrated he’s unfit for office. And those of us who witnessed the chaos of his Administration firsthand from the inside are coming together to ensure that Trump is not re-elected,” Taylor said.

The former official added, “More importantly, this organization will be planning for a post-Trump Republican Party and working with other groups to repair the GOP and repair our republic.”

Taylor went on to detail what is next for the REPAIR initiative as Election Day approaches. According to Taylor, he is hoping to rebuild the foundation of the Republican Party by distancing it from “the corruption of Trumpism.”

“In the coming weeks, we’ll be announcing a range of Republican talent that will be helping drive the effort, as well as new initiates to bring the GOP back to its roots, away from the corruption of Trumpism, and toward a more forward-looking agenda,” Taylor added.

Taylor’s latest remarks come just days after his interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. During that interview, Taylor recalled the moment he realized Trump was unfit to run the country.

“Right now we’re less safe because we have fewer friends and stronger enemies than before, you can expect to see that on steroids in another four years of the Trump administration,” Taylor added.

Despite Taylor’s remarks and concerns, Trump has dismissed him as a “disgruntled employee.”
