President Donald Trump reportedly wanted his daughter Ivanka Trump to be his running mate.
In an upcoming book by Donald Trump’s former deputy campaign manager Rick Gates, it suggests Donald Trump repeatedly pushed for Ivanka Trump while he was the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
“I think it should be Ivanka,” Trump said, according to Gates’ book which The Washington Post reported on. “What about Ivanka as my VP?”
“She’s bright, she’s smart, she’s beautiful, and the people would love her!” Donald Trump continued.
Gates claims Donald Trump was adamant in his pushing to convince his staff that she would be the right person on the ticket with him.
As the Post reports, “Trump was so taken with the concept of his eldest daughter as his vice president — and so cool to other options, including his eventual selection, then-Indiana Gov. Mike Pence — that his team polled the idea twice,” citing Gates’ book.
Gates suggested that the president’s daughter — who serves as advisor to the president — though was the one to cut off the idea at the time.
The book, “Wicked Game: An Insider’s Story on How Trump Won, Mueller Failed and America Lost,” will be published on Oct. 13.
