Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is offering well-wishes to President Donald Trump after the news broke that the president and first lady have tested positive for COVID-19.
The president announced just before 1 a.m. on Friday that he and the first lady tested positive for the coronavirus and are beginning quarantine. The president’s physician also said Trump will “continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering.” This comes after Trump’s senior adviser Hope Hicks tested positive for COVID-19.
The White House said on Friday, “The president is not incapacitated. He is actually working from the residence.”
Biden was expected to get tested on Friday morning for COVID-19 following the news of the president’s positive test. This comes just days after the two were on the same stage on Tuesday for the first presidential debate.
In a tweet on Friday morning, Biden and his wife said they are sending “our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery.”
“We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family,” the two added.
Jill and I send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery. We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family.
