Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden says he hopes President Donald Trump will adhere to the rules in the second and final presidential debate.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday afternoon, Biden said, “Hopefully [Trump]’s gonna play by the rules. Hopefully, everybody’s been tested.”

“Hopefully, it’s all worked out the way the rules are. I’m looking forward to this,” he added.

Trump and Biden are scheduled to face off for just the second time this election cycle — after an earlier debate was scrapped — on Thursday night.

After the first debate, which was widely panned as chaotic as both candidates repeatedly spoke over each other, the Presidential Debate Commission said it would consider measures to add more “structure” to future debates.

Following Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis, the commission announced that the debate scheduled for Oct. 15 would be moved to a digital format.

But, Trump said, “I’m not going to do a virtual debate.” And that debate was scuttled.

Trump was also criticized after the White House did not say if he tested negative for COVID-19 prior to taking the stage for the first debate.

When he was asked if he took a coronavirus test before the first debate, Trump said, “I don’t know, I don’t even remember. I test all the time.”

He added, “I probably did…Possibly I did, possibly I didn’t.”

However, hours ahead of the final debate, White House officials announced that Trump had tested negative for COVID-19.
