As coronavirus cases are surging across the country, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) says President Donald Trump has ended the pandemic.

In a press release on Tuesday, the OSTP listed “ending the Covid-19 pandemic” at the top of a list of accomplishments during Trump’s first term in office.

It went on the argue the Trump administration took “decisive actions to engage scientists and health professionals in academia, industry, and government to understand, treat, and defeat the disease.”

While the science office portrayed a rosy picture of the pandemic, the country has recorded a record number of new coronavirus cases.

The country is now recording an average of 70,000 new cases per day, and health experts worry the surge could last for a long time as the weather gets colder and Americans gather in in-door settings.

Currently, there are more than 9 million coronavirus cases in the U.S. and over 230,000 deaths.

Still, Trump has argued the country is “rounding the corner” in terms of the pandemic and that the virus “going away.” He has also said that Americans are “learning to live” with the virus.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has scoffed at that claim, “He says that we’re learning to live with it. People are learning to die with it. You folks home who have an empty chair at the kitchen table this morning, that man or wife going to bed tonight and reaching over to try to touch out of habit where their wife or husband was is gone.”

“Learning to live with it? Come on. We’re dying with it,” he added.
