In the final hours of the 2020 presidential campaign, President Donald Trump is raising questions about his Democratic opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden’s, mental ability.
Speaking to supporters at a rally in North Carolina on Monday, Trump said, “Our country has such potential. You can’t do that to our country. [Biden’s] not mentally equipped to be your president.”
“He’s not a nice person. Never was a nice person. But he was never a smart person. He was a touchy, feely person,” Trump continued. “But is not a man that … 25 years ago was not equipped to be your president.”
Trump continued to claim Biden won the Democratic presidential nomination because Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) refused to drop out of the race and split the progressive wing of the party.
The president returned his attention to a series of gaffes Biden has made over the course of the campaign, “There’s no way to describe that. … We can’t do this. And you know what’s going to happen, [Sen. Kamala Harris D-Calif.] will be put in that position very quickly. And she’s more liberal than Crazy Bernie. She’s more liberal. In fact, she makes him look like a strict conservative.”

Throughout the campaign, Trump has repeatedly attacked Biden’s mental health, as IJR reported. Over the summer, Trump claimed he had “aced” a cognitive test and challenged Biden to take one himself.
However, when asked if he would take such a test, Biden said, “No, I haven’t taken a test … Why the hell would I take a test? Come on, man.”
“I know you’re trying to goad me, but I mean … I’m so forward-looking to have an opportunity to sit with the president or stand with the president and the debates,” he added.
Additionally, Biden has questioned Trump’s intellect. In August, he suggested Trump was not competent enough to be president, “You know, I used to think it was because of his personality, but I just don’t think he can intellectually handle it.”
“I don’t think he’s competent enough to know what to do. He just waved the white flag,” he added.
