Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is sharing what he would say if President-elect Joe Biden asked him to join his cabinet.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked the Vermont senator if it is true that he is eyeing the position of Labor secretary in Biden’s cabinet.

Sanders responded during Wednesday’s interview, “What’s true is I want to do everything I can to protect the working families of this country who are under tremendous duress right now,” adding, “Whether that’s in the Senate, whether that’s in the Biden administration, who knows. Well, let’s see how that unfolds.”

Asked if he would say yes to the position if Biden asked him, Sanders said, “If I had a portfolio that allowed me to stand up and fight for working families, would I do it? Yes, I would.”

Sanders ran in the 2020 Democratic primary and came out with 1,118 delegates while Biden garnered 2,727 delegates out of the 1,991 needed to win the nomination.

Over the weekend, several major outlets projected Biden defeated President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. Trump has refused to concede and his campaign has filed several lawsuits.

Biden, however, has ignored Trump’s refusal to concede and on Thursday will begin building his governing team. He has already made his first major appointment, naming Ron Klain as his White House chief of staff on Wednesday.
