As Republicans set their eyes on the 2024 presidential election, Politico reports that President Donald Trump’s current national security adviser, Robert O’Brien, is considering running for the White House.
In an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt on Wednesday, O’Brien was asked about a report by Politico that suggested he was eyeing a presidential bid in 2024.
Hewitt asked, “First question, if President Trump runs in 2024, would you ever run against him?”
“Never. He’d have my 100% support,” O’Brien responded.
When asked if he would run for president if Trump did not run again, O’Brien said, “You know, the [Politico] piece is what I call [a] Washington inside the Beltway article.”
“So I’m fully focused on my current job. I’m not running for anything right now. I’m not going to make a Shermanesque statement about never running under any circumstances, but I’m focused on implementing the president’s agenda, and getting the foreign policy picture for the American people, and that’s all I’m focused on,” he continued.
He added, “But this is starting to become silly season for the Washington news media. And you know, there’s all kinds of speculation out there. So I leave that for what it is.”

Additionally, O’Brien said that he has been “pretty busy” and has not spoken with political consultants about a presidential bid.
While Trump has publicly claimed that the election was stolen from him through fraud, he has reportedly been speaking to aides about possibly running for president again in 2024.
The Washington Post reported that he has suggested he may announce another presidential campaign before the end of the year.
And even though are no official plans for another presidential bid by Trump, a recent Politico/Morning Consult poll has found that a majority of Republicans would support Trump in 2024.
Former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney also said he believes Trump would run again, as IJR reported.
During a webinar shortly after the election, Mulvaney said, “I would absolutely expect the president to stay involved in politics. I would absolutely put him on the shortlist of people who are likely to run in 2024. He doesn’t like losing.”
