Officials in Operation Warp Speed, the government’s program to develop a COVID-19 vaccine in record time, are expecting to have more than 300 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine available for Americans by June 2021.
During an appearance on MSNBC on Monday, Lt. Gen. Paul Ostrowski was asked how many Americans will be able to be vaccinated by June 2021.
“100% of Americans that want the vaccine will have had the vaccine by that point in time,” he responded. “We will have over 300 million doses available to the American public well before that time.”

Ostrowski’s comments come as late stage coronavirus vaccine trials from Pfizer and Moderna have been found to be more than 90% effective in preventing the virus.
Additionally, Moderna announced on Monday that it would seek an emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
It also said it expects to have 20 million doses of the virus ready to ship by the end of 2020 — which would be enough to innoculate 10 million Americans from the virus.
Dr. Anthony Fauci has said that the vaccine could be available by the end of the year, but it would likely be “several months into 2021” before it was widely available.
While there have been promising developments in the race for a vaccine, the coronavirus has been raging throughout the country. On Sunday, the country added another 136,313 new cases and 818 deaths.
