Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is suggesting that President Donald Trump may be getting ready to fire another senior administration official.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Schumer quipped that Attorney General William Barr is likely the next top official to be fired after he broke with the president when he said the Justice Department has not found evidence of voter fraud that would overturn the election.

Asked about Barr’s statement, Schumer said, “I guess he’s the next one to be fired, since he now too says there’s no fraud. Trump seems to fire anyone in that regard.”

In an interview on Tuesday, Barr said, “To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election.”

President Donald Trump’s legal team, which is led by Rudy Giuliani, shot back in a statement, “With all due respect to the Attorney General, there hasn’t been any semblance of a Department of Justice investigation. We have gathered ample evidence of illegal voting in at least six states, which they have not examined.”

Trump complained over the weekend that the Department of Justice isn’t properly investigating his debunked claims of fraud, saying that the DOJ is “Missing in action, can’t tell you where they are. I ask are they looking at it, everyone says, ‘Yes they’re looking at it.’”

The president previously fired top cybersecurity official Chris Krebs who shot down claims of widespread voter fraud.

Barr is the latest formerly staunch Trump ally to abandon the president in his efforts to overturn his election loss to President-elect Joe Biden.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp refused to overrule Georgia’s Secretary of State. Kemp’s office said that it would be illegal for the governor to interfere in the election.

After it became clear that Kemp would not be coming to his aid, Trump said that he was “ashamed” that he endorsed the governor.
