President-elect Joe Biden is sharing how multiple Republican lawmakers have privately called to congratulate him on his apparent election victory.

“There have been more than several sitting Republican senators who privately called and congratulated me,” Biden said during a CNN interview with Jake Tapper on Thursday. “I understand the situation they find themselves in.”

Biden did not specifically name who has called him.

Many Republican lawmakers have yet to publicly say that Biden is the president-elect. This comes as President Donald Trump has refused to concede and has called the 2020 presidential election “the most corrupt election in American political history.”

Biden continued to say that “until the election is clearly decided” when the Electoral College meets on Dec. 14 Republican lawmakers are “put in a very tough position.”

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) was one of the few Republicans to publicly call Biden the president-elect so far.

This week Attorney General William Barr said that the Department of Justice had not found any evidence of widespread voter fraud in the election that would change the outcome, as IJR reported.

“To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election,” Barr told the Associated Press.

When asked by a reporter in the Oval Office on Thursday if he has confidence still in Barr following the comment, Trump said, “Ask me that in a number of weeks from now.”
