Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is admitting that President-elect Joe Biden is the winner of the election. But, he says he does not have any advice to give to President Donald Trump on whether he should accept the results of the election.

McConnell was asked on Tuesday, “Should [Trump] accept the results?”

“Look, I don’t have any advice to give the president on the subject,” he responded.

He added, “I said this morning, for me and I think on the basis of the way the system works, the decision by the Electoral College yesterday was determinative.”

Biden officially won the presidency on Monday when electors to the Electoral College cast their votes for him and put him over the 270-threshold needed to win the White House.

On Tuesday, McConnell took to the Senate floor and said, “Yesterday electors met in all 50 states. So, as of this morning, our country has officially a president-elect and a vice president-elect.”

“Today, I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden. The president-elect is no stranger to the Senate. He’s devoted himself to public service for many years,” he added.

Several other Republican senators also publicly stated that Biden is the president-elect after the Electoral College vote.

But when asked if Trump would acknowledge the outcome of the election, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said the president is “still involved in ongoing litigation related to the election.”

“Yesterday’s vote was one step in the constitutional process, so I will leave that to him and refer you to the campaign for more on that litigation,” she added.

Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) urged Trump to “take his cue from Leader McConnell that it’s time to end his term with a modicum of grace and dignity.”
