President Donald Trump is lashing out at Republican leadership in Congress for not sustaining his veto of the $740 billion defense bill.

In a tweet Tuesday morning, Trump wrote, “Weak and tired Republican ‘leadership’ will allow the bad Defense Bill to pass.”

He continued, “Say goodbye to VITAL Section 230 termination, your National Monuments, Forts (names!) and Treasures (inserted by Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren), 5G, and our great soldiers being removed and brought home from foreign lands who do NOTHING for us.”

“A disgraceful act of cowardice and total submission by weak people to Big Tech. Negotiate a better Bill, or get better leaders, NOW! Senate should not approve NDAA until fixed!!!”

Last week, Trump vetoed the annual defense bill as he noted it did not include a provision to repeal a law giving legal protections to social media companies. Additionally, he opposed the bill due to a provision that would rename military installations named after Confederate leaders.

The House voted 322-87 on Monday to override Trump’s veto of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The president’s aides reportedly expected Congress to override the veto as the bill was initially passed with more votes than were required to override the veto.

The Senate will vote to override the veto. However, the vote may not come for several days as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) vowed to filibuster the vote until the chamber holds a vote on a measure to increase stimulus checks from $600 to $2,000. This would be the first time Congress voted to override a veto by Trump.

On Monday, The House passed a bill to increase the stimulus checks set to be delivered to Americans to ease the financial pain of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, it was unclear when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) would hold a vote on the measure, or if the required 60 senators would vote for it as many Republicans have voiced opposition to the bill.
