Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) was pressed on whether he believes President Joe Biden legitimately won the presidential election.

During an appearance on CNN on Sunday, Reeves was pressed on the issue by host Jake Tapper noted that former President Donald Trump is continuing to make unfounded allegations that the election was stolen.

Tapper asked, “Do you accept that Joe Biden is the legitimately and lawfully elected president of the United States?”

“President Biden is the President of the United States,” Reeves said as he noted Mississipi does not allow for mail-in voting due to fears of voter fraud.

He continued, “President Biden is the duly elected president, and we’re going to do everything we can to work with him to help the citizens of Mississippi.”

Tapper noted that Trump won several states that have mail-in voting before claiming Reeves did not say Biden was legitimately elected.

He asked, “Yes or no, do you accept that Joe Biden is the legitimately and lawfully elected president of the United States? Obviously, every election has some questions, but I’m talking about free and fair legitimately-elected Joe Biden. Yes or no?”

“As you said, every election has questions, and this one was no different. President Biden is the duly-elected president of the United States. He was certified by all 50 states either having won or loss, and he lost my state by 20 points, but he was certified in each of the individual states and certified by the U.S. Congress and he is the duly-elected president,” Reeves responded.

Tapper responded, “You did say he’s duly elected, so I’ll take that as an answer.”
