Former President Donald Trump believes he will be “reinstated” as president, according to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman.
“Trump has been telling a number of people he’s in contact with that he expects he will get reinstated by August,” Haberman, an award-winning reporter, tweeted on Tuesday, adding, “No that isn’t how it works but simply sharing the information.”

But he is not putting out statements about the “audits” in states just for the sake of it. He’s been laser focused on them, according to several people who’ve spoken with him (as well as WaPo reporting a few weeks ago).

Fox News contributor Byron York was among those who responded to Haberman’s tweet, noting that Trump’s reported claim appears to be echoing lawyer Sidney Powell’s remarks from the weekend.
“Short answer: Reinstatement cannot and will not happen,” York added. “If Trump brings this up in public, will likely increase number of Republicans who say they are ready to move on.”

The Atlantic’s David Frum also tweeted, “It’s a delusional fantasy, obviously, but it’s a fantasy about a violent coup – which is really something from an ex-president.”

When it comes to the 2024 presidential election, Trump has not shared yet if he plans to run, but he has said, “The answer is I’m absolutely enthused. I look forward to doing an announcement at the right time. As you know, it’s very early, but I think people are going to be very, very happy … when I make a certain announcement.”
He will reportedly restart holding his rallies this month.
