More Republican voters say they blame President Joe Biden and Congressional Democrats for the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol than former President Donald Trump or Congressional Republicans.

A new Morning Consult poll released on Monday found 30% of Republican voters say they blame Trump for the riot, down from 41% in a poll conducted just after the riot.

Additionally, 41% of Republicans blamed Biden for the riot, down from 42%.

At the same time, 22% of Republican voters say they blame Congressional Republicans, down from 34%, and 52% blame Congressional Democrats which is up from 48%.

By contrast, 61% of all voters blame Trump and 50% blame Congressional Republicans.

The number of all voters who blame Biden ticked up from 26% to 27%. Similarly, the number of all voters who blame Congressional Democrats ticked up from 30% to 33%.

“What’s happening isn’t partisan polarization but asymmetric polarization, with Republicans separated from Democrats and independents on everything from whether the 2020 election results were legitimate, to assessments of how Trump handled and Biden is handling COVID, to views about how the economy is doing,” Amy Fried, the chair of the University of Maine’s political science department and the co-author of a new book probing conservatives’ distrust in institutions, said.

On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that she would create a select committee to investigate the violence to “establish the truth of that day and ensure that an attack of that kind cannot happen and that we root out the causes of it all.”
