Vice President Kamala Harris was panned for a response she gave to a question about the spike in consumer prices.

During an interview with CBS’ Margaret Brennan, Harris was asked, “People are going into their third year of this pandemic. You’re talking about cost of living. Was it wrong to consider inflation transitory? I mean, these price spikes seem like they’re going to be with us for a while.”

“We have to address the fact that we gotta deal with the fact that folks are paying for gas, paying for groceries and need solutions to it,” Harris began.

She continued, “Short-term solution includes what we need to do around the supply chain, right? So we went to the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach; Savanah, Georgia, and said, ‘Hey guys, no more five days a week, eight hours a day. Twenty-four seven let’s move the products because people need their products, they need what they need.”

“We’re dealing with it in terms of the long term, and that’s about what we need to pass Build Back Better. It strengthens our economy,” she added.

Check out some of the reactions below:

The Daily Wire’s Ian Haworth wrote, “It is truly mind-blowing how little Kamala Harris knows about the fundamental problems facing the country right now.”

“I doubt she could even explain what inflation is,” he added.

Kamala’s response to questions about inflation really highlights that constant complaint from her staffers that she “refuses to wade into briefing materials.” pic.twitter.com/EE8sGMBqYG

Harris comments come as data the Labor Department released earlier this month said the consumer price index, a measure of the costs of goods and services, in November rose by 6.8% compared to the same month last year, the highest rate since 1982. It also marked the sixth consecutive month inflation topped 5%.

Heather Long, a columnist, focused on the economy for The Washington Post, predicted in December that “high inflation is not going away any time soon.”

It's clear that high inflation is not going away any time soon.

Yes, December may see some relief on gas prices.
But rents continue to rise, food prices (esp. meats) continue to rise, and car/furniture/goods prices remain high.https://t.co/gUtlk82rP5 pic.twitter.com/GNszOjOebn
