Shaun Weiss, known as the child actor who starred in the Disney movie “The Mighty Ducks,” took to his Instagram to showcase his amazing transformation of having two years of sobriety after overcoming an addiction to methamphetamine.

Weiss celebrated his sobriety with a post on Instagram Wednesday. The actor shared two images: one where he looked emaciated and unkempt, and the other where he looks completely healthy and restored. He captioned the photos, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with 12 amazing steps.”

He also encouraged anyone else who was also struggling with addiction to call 866.480.2496 and get treatment.

Check out his post below:

Actor Drew Gallager reposted the photos on his Instagram and described the transformation as a “triumph.” He added, “Congrats [Shawn Weiss] on two-years sober!!! So proud of you brotha, look at you now!”

As a consequence of his addiction, the 43-year-old also had multiple run-ins with the law. He was arrested in August of 2018 for being publicly intoxicated but was released without charges.

In January of 2020, Weiss was arrested on charges of residential burglary and being under the influence of a controlled substance, which was later dismissed in July of 2020, after completing a court-ordered drug program.

When his addiction was at its worst, his appearance also took a turn for the worst, as he was looking gaunt and had missing teeth.

Thankfully, through the power of God and relying on Him for help, we can overcome any addiction and triumph.

Because Jesus Christ has already won the victory on the cross, we too have the victory as His followers. The Bible promises us in John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” And in Romans 8:37, “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
