A Louisiana mom received a surprise delivery on April 1.
Victoya Venise gave birth to her second child while on a business trip in Georgia, but this was not what she expected.
Venise’s doctors originally told her that her due date would be May 15 because of how small she was, according to WXIA-TV.
After coming back from urgent care thinking that she just had a stomach bug transmitted from her daughter, she went to the bathroom and realized it was actually her baby. By then Venise said, “It was just too late.” She had already given birth.
After Venise called emergency services along with her mother, she was then transported to Northside Hospital which was not too far from where she was staying.
When she arrived Venise said that doctors were just as surprised as she was after finding out that she had just given birth. A day later, she and her new baby boy whom she named Rocky Andrew were back at the hotel.
Speaking on what inspired her son’s name she told WXIA-TV, “Rocky is a nickname that was given to my grandfather and I just thought that it was kind of so befitting because it was like you had a rocky start, but you’re going to be strong and you’re a fighter.”
Rocky was born at 37 weeks and Venise told People that they are both doing well.
Venise is a graphic designer, as well as a social media manager, and able to work from home but she told WXIA-TV that she plans to take some time off after she is done with her current assignments.
“I’m just happy I work with clients who were understanding and let me take a few days to myself,” she told People.
Being a single mother, she contemplated placing her son for adoption, but after having him in her arms she ultimately changed her mind.
“I feel so connected to him even more,” she told WXIA-TV.
When life throws us curve balls and we are faced with the unexpected, Philippians 4:19 reminds us, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
As Venise looked at her new bundle of joy, holding him close to her she told him, “No, you’re mine, I’m going to take care of you. If I could literally bring you into the world by myself, I think I could take care of you.”
