Hailey Bieber opened up and shared “in her own words” what caused the medical emergency that landed her in the hospital in March.

In a video that Hailey Bieber posted on her YouTube channel titled, “Telling my story,” she shared the events that led to her hospitalization which she referred to as “a very scary incident.”

“Basically I was sitting at breakfast with my husband, having a normal day, normal conversation, and we were in the middle of talking and all of a sudden I felt this really weird sensation that kind of like traveled down my arm, from my shoulder, all way down to my fingertips, and it made my fingertips feel really numb and weird,” she said.

Hailey Bieber shared that in that moment her husband, singer, Justin Bieber, asked her if she was OK but she didn’t respond because she wasn’t sure.

“And then he asked me again and when I went to respond I couldn’t speak,” she said.

Hailey Bieber shared that the right side of her face started drooping and she “couldn’t get a sentence out” and that’s when she and Justin Bieber both thought she was having a “full-blown stroke.”

“Right away he asked for someone to please call 911 and get a doctor. Where we were, there happened to be a doctor there, a medic there who rushed over and they started asking me questions, they started testing my arms,” she said.

Check out the video below:

Hailey Bieber said this was the “scariest moment” of her life and was worried that she would have “permanent issues” from this.

In the hospital, Hailey Bieber was treated for a blood clot in her brain but recovered “within a few hours.”

“I felt really thankful and grateful for that, that it wasn’t worse. I wasn’t gonna have any permanent issues,” she said.

After Hailey Bieber was discharged, she went to UCLA to see some more doctors “to do some more thorough in-depth testing” and find answers.

She then shared the reasons why doctors believed she had a blood clot in the first place.

“The conclusion that all of the doctors came to was three different things. One was that I had just recently started birth control pills, which I should have never been on because I am somebody who suffered from migraines anyway and I just did not talk to my doctor about this,” she said.

She warned women who “suffer from bad migraines” that if they plan on being on birth control pills to make sure that they tell their doctor “because having a stroke is a potential side effect from birth control pills.”

Speaking on the other reasons, Hailey Bieber mentioned that she recently had COVID-19 which is what doctors thought could have been “a contributing factor.”

She also had recently been on “a really long flight” and didn’t take certain steps to prepare for it.

Ultimately, all of the doctors, she said, came to the conclusion that it was a “perfect storm” that led to her having a small blood clot.

At the end of her video, Hailey Bieber said that she felt it was important for her to share this and also expressed her gratitude to all of the doctors who took care of her.
