Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) claims Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas didn’t bring up a landmark marriage case because he is “intermarried.”

Nadler took his swipe at Thomas while speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives about the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The New York Democrat admonished Thomas for his recommendation that the nation’s high court review the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize gay marriage.

“He didn’t mention (interracial marriage) for some reason,” Nadler said in a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives. “Maybe the fact that he’s intermarried … had something to do with it.”

Rep. Nadler said Justice Thomas didn't mention interracial marriage in his Dobbs concurrence b/c he's married to a white woman.

Nadler was referencing the 1967 case Loving v. Virginia that legalized interracial marriage, which stated that the laws banning interracial marriage were in violation of the Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment.

Nadler’s comments received harsh pushback from Twitter users who railed on his personal jab over a legal issue.

“Or… maybe it’s because Loving v. Virginia was decided upon a totally different constitutional basis than right to privacy cases like Roe, and isn’t in any danger of being overruled. Are we to believe that Nadler, an attorney, doesn’t understand that distinction?” one user asked.

Steve Guest, the Special Advisor for Communications for Sen. Ted Cruz, said, “Only a Democrat would use a word like ‘intermarried.'”

Another user said, that Nadler, who has been in office for two decades is a great example of the need for term limits.

Thomas’ comments on Lawrence, however, were to argue that the high court misapplied the Fourteenth Amendment when they asserted that it covered homosexual relationships and the right to gay marriage.

And despite members of the cast telling her otherwise, Whoopi insisted her falsehoods were the truth.
