President Joe Biden says he is doing “great” after he tested positive for COVID-19.

In a tweet, Biden shared a photo of himself sitting at a desk, and wrote, “Folks, I’m doing great. Thanks for your concern.”

“Keeping busy!” he added.

Folks, I'm doing great. Thanks for your concern. Just called Senator Casey, Congressman Cartwright, and Mayor Cognetti (and my Scranton cousins!) to send my regrets for missing our event today.

On Thursday morning, the White House announced that the president tested positive for the virus, as IJR reported.

In a statement, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, “This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19.  He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms.  He has begun taking Paxlovid.”

“Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time.  He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence,” she added.

First Lady Jill Biden told reporters Thurdsay afternoon, “I talked to him just a few minutes ago, he’s doing fine. He’s feeling good.”

“I tested negative this morning. I am going to keep my schedule. According to CDC guidelines, I am keeping masked,” she added.

White House Physician Kevin O’Connor said Biden was experiencing mild symptoms including a runny nose, fatigue, and a dry cough.

He added that the symptoms started Wednesday evening.

“The president is fully vaccinated and twice-boosted, so I anticipate that he will respond favorably, as most maximally protected patients do,” O’Connor said.

Biden is the second U.S. president to test positive for the virus while in office.
